Training of peer educators of key populations
OCE trains the key populations in peer education and influence under The Rwanda Uganda Cross Border HIV Project commonly known as “Follow the Trucks”. This was achieved during a 3 days training from 28th -30th November, 2018 for 20 peers. The Peers were trained in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care, Family planning, Human Rights, Community mobilization, Sexual reproductive and Health rights.
Each participant was facilitated with field gears which included a pair of Gumboots, a rain coat and a bag with spot message “Together we can stop new HIV infections”.
One of the participants (name withheld) was grateful to OCE for bringing them on board despite stigma and marginalization from the community. The participants further noted that with their involvement in the fight against HIV/AIDS, will stand together with the rest of the World to end the scourge.
At the end of the training Hon. Namagembe; District councilor who represented the chairperson LCV urged participants to apply all the skills, knowledge and techniques acquired during the training to educate their fellow peers in the struggle to combat HIV/AIDS in our community.
